Alex Hales Power Hitting Helps England Level Series Against India | Eng vs Ind
The second T20 of India Tour of England, 2018 played between Ind vs Eng ranking second and fourth in the points table respectively. In an average scoring game, England beats India by 5 wickets and two balls to spare. After winning the toss, England elected to bowl first. It was a nail-biting fight between the two teams. The fortune of both teams was swinging like a pendulum as time progressed. However, it was the spirited inning of Alex Hales who almost single-handedly took his team from the mouth of the defeat to winning the game in style.
Batting first India, Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma both got out early. Whereas, favorite player Lokesh Rahul who made a century in the last game got bowled out for just 6 runs. Therefore, India didn’t have a very good start. However, Captain Virat Kohli played a responsible and sensible inning. He made quick 47 runs off 38 balls with 2 sixes and 1 four. Suresh Raina also contributed 27 runs off 20 balls. Furthermore, MS Dhoni had a good partnership with Virat Kohli and Hardik Pandya. Due to which they were able to recover and post a respectable score of 148 runs at the loss of 5 wickets in their 20 overs. MS Dhoni made 34 runs not out off 24 balls hitting 5 fours.
David Willey and Liam Plunkett bowled exceptionally well for England. Liam Plunkett bowled 4 overs giving just 17 runs and taking 1 wicket and David Willey also with his four overs took 1 wicket giving 18 runs. Furthermore, Jake Ball proved to be the most expensive bowler for England. He bowled 4 overs for 44 runs. Also, Adil Rashid bowled 4 overs giving 29 runs and taking 1 wicket.

Chasing a target of 149 runs England opener Jason Roy and Jos Buttler got out early by Umesh Yadav’s bowling attack. But, Alex Hales played like immortal partnering with almost 4 batsmen scoring 58 runs off 41 balls. He hit 3 sixes and 4 fours in total. Joe Root wicket was uprooted by Yuzvendra Chahal. Furthermore, Captain Eoin Morgan also got out early. From there on Alex Hales and Jonny Bairstow handled the inning responsibly. Jonny Bairstow made 28 runs off 18 balls. Umesh Yadav’s penultimate over made sure that England needed 12 runs off the final over. However, Alex Hales struck six on the first ball and a four on the second ball of the final over by Bhuveneshwar Kumar and won the match for England. England has not lost a match at the Sophia Garden, Cardiff venue.
Indian bowlers did a fine job with the bowling and fielding department. Unfortunately, Bhuvneshwar Kumar got hit for 12 runs in the final and deciding over. Whereas his figures read 3 overs for just 7 runs before the final over. That’s the nature of the game. It is so unpredictable. Hardik Pandya and Yuzvendra Chahal both bowled four overs for 28 runs and 1 wicket each. Umesh Yadav got 2 wickets for 36 runs in 4 overs.
